About Us

We are a small UK (South Wales) based charity with a BIG vision.

Obeying the first and second commandments to love God and love our neighbour, we are expressing this in Bohol, Philippines by supporting families with kids with cerebral palsy.

Our Trustees

Charity trustee

Hi, I'm Neil Wilson and I'm the founder of Shekinah Cerebral Palsy Support and also the chair of Trustees.

I am a retired teacher and now have a private tutoring business, teaching mostly KS2 Maths and Reading.

I'm married to Jifelane who's from the Philippines and we have two children, Isaac and Hannah.

Originally from Cardiff, I've been blessed to travel to many parts of the world including Jamaica, USA and China. I don't have a lot of free time but when I do I love to fish, play guitar and watch sport!

Charity trustee

Hi, my name is Karen Brown and I'm delighted to be a trustee for Shekinah Cerebral Palsy Support. It is a privilege to be involved.

I am married to Robert. We've been married for 30 years and we have two amazing grown up daughters.

Areas of work have included admin work for small businesses, running a pre-school and exam invigilating.

I now work part time for my church as a pastoral care co-ordinator - a rewarding and challenging job - and run a small cake business.

In my spare time I like cuddling cats!

Charity trustee

Hello, I'm Stephen Kitt. I have spent much of my working life teaching English as a foreign language. I am well travelled and have also served as a Christian missionary in India, the Caribbean and South America. I speak both Spanish and Portuguese.

I currently live in Felpham on the south coast and have also lived in Chichester and Portsmouth. I am a BA (Hons) graduate and also hold a Masters in Business Studies.

I have known Neil for well over thirty years and am very happy to 'come on board' with Shekinah as a trustee.

Our partners

Bohol Cerebral Palsy workshop team

Jessa Marmol, the president of Cerebral Palsy Epilepsy Family Awareness Support Group. Ph Inc  first contacted me when she saw our original Facebook page back in 2017.

CEFASG. Ph Inc organise many events across the Philippines, especially day workshops educating and training parents with cerebral palsy children. They also provide specialist equipment such as neck braces, pushchairs and carriers. The Bobath trained Physiotherapists rigorously assess the children and give advice on exercises that can be done at home. These events are also a great emotional encouragement to the families.

We made a commitment back then to work together, once Shekinah CP Support was 'up and running'. In April 2024 we sponsored our first day workshop in the city of Tagbilaran, Bohol. Last month (April 2025) we supported our second day workshop in Ubay in the north east of the island.

There may be no better way to communicate what we do than through images. As you browse our site, take a few moments to let your eyes linger here, and see if you can get a feel for our vision and what we do.

Mary Joy Tolentino, a 23-year-old single mother shows remarkable resilience while raising her son Jairo, who has multiple serious health conditions. Despite being abandoned by his father, she completed her education, works online to support them, and relies on help from her mother and community. She remains hopeful for the future, aiming to secure a stable teaching job and improve their living conditions to give her son a better, healthier life.

She reflects that her greatest reward has been healing through small victories with Jairo. Letting go of guilt and “what ifs,” she now defines her journey by her strength and Jairo’s resilience. She finds deep joy in his small milestones.

Mary Joy emphasizes that emotional support and community kindness have been essential in her journey as a single mother. Despite early criticism, she found strength in the generosity of neighbors, strangers, and her own mother, who helped care for Jairo and meet their needs.

She wishes people were more open-minded and recognized that children like Jairo deserve love, dignity, and inclusion beyond their diagnoses. Despite hurtful judgments, she affirms that Jairo is not a burden but her greatest source of hope.

What truly moves her is how he communicates. Even though he can’t talk with words like

us, he absolutely responds when she talks to him. He 'talks' back with his sweet coos and by kicking

his legs with excitement. Therapy has also helped him a lot in this journey.

Her greatest dream is for Jairo to have a comfortable life and the best possible quality of life. She especially hopes to improve his vision by taking him to a specialist, wanting him to experience and see the beauty of the world. Also, securing a safe, clean water source in her home would be a life-changing improvement.
